Blue Ruffle Vase
 
This interesting vase is made using a drop-out mold.  A drop-out mold is a flat round mold with a hole in the middle.  We place the flat fused glass piece on the mold, which is suspended above the kiln shelf.  As the kiln heats up the glass drops through the hole creating the vase shape.  We let the glass drop down to the base, and fuse onto the base then we stop the firing and let the piece start cooling.  Fascinating!
